I just ordered a XPS 1330 and my confirmation email shows this part...

I ordered a Midnight blue casing with a LED back lit screeen.

I have never seen a Midnight blue laptop first hand but went for it since I found it attractive. Does this "High Gloss" mean anything? Will the finish be same as the tuxedo black or the product red (which I have personally seen)

    P.S : Well, I actually changed my order to a T9300 with 4gig Ram

I've just got my midnight blue a few days ago exactly like your spec except the hard disk. This is from the confirmation email

GY188 Midnight Blue Slim & Light WLED display with VGA webcam.

I reckon, it looks better in person than in Dell website. The finish on mine is non glossy.

Not sure about the "High gloss" part, but it's a microsatin finish. It'll have the same rubbery feel as the red colour.

    Thanks guys...

    @bajaiman - what does GY188 mean?

My order has 2 SKU numbers.

320-5583 13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330

313-6146 Slim and Light LCD with Blue High Gloss Casing and Camera XPS M1330

This is from the first order confirmation email that dell sends. Are you quoting something from the invoice?

I think that GY188 is some sort of the parts number.. These are the two entries in my confirmation email from Dell when I bought my 1330

    GY188
Midnight Blue Slim & Light WLED display with VGA webcam

    MM350
13.3" UltraSharp Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) Display with TrueLife(0.3MP webcam)

If you can change to 3gig you should because 32bit Vista cannot utilize the 4th gig. I paid for the upgrade and did not become aware until later.

Congratulations btw I think you will love the 1330.

I've had the Midnight blue for about 4 weeks now.
It does get some finger prints but it's hardly noticeable.
    I love the color!!!!
    I love them all!!Jane

I think the high gloss refers to the screen. I also have midnight blue, and as desscribed above it has a satin finish.

    Thanks guys..

@dianem - I got that as a part of a deal. The upgrade cost me around 40 bucks (with all the discounts). So I went for it just in case I switch to Vista Ultimate or some 64 bit version of Linux.

Okay. The wait is finally over. I got it today morning and the initial reaction is "Whoa! It's awesome"

I kinda like the midnight blue better the pictures from the dell site..! Yes, it is a bit darker... The finish crossover between glossy and micro satin finish. But, it doesn't pickup fingerprints like the black. As a matter of fact, the bottom portion is more prone to fingerprints than the case! ;)

I'm glad you liked the color and that it is darker. I also ordered it in Midnight Blue (I was looking for something serious with a hint of fun :)), but never got to actually "see" it beforehand, except for some pics on the web. All they had in stores was Black or Red.

Congrats!!! :D I was torn back in January between the 1330 vs. 1530!! I ended up going with the 1530, and am really happy with my choice ;) :

Did you get a CMO, Toshiba or Samsung screen?
    90w or 65w power adapter?

    Thanks Cin..!

Well, the answer lies where I say "Fortunately, I got all the right parts" It's a Toshiba screen and the 65W charger.

    I feel that there is a pattern emerging with 9300 getting a 65W and the 8300 getting a 90 W.

    What did you get?

Also, I thought that there were only Toshiba and the Chi Mei screen. Not sure if they ship sammy LED's..

Congrats on getting the right parts!

Unfortunately for me, it appears I am getting the CMO screen and 90w adapter.

I'm not sure about the CMO screen as I haven't seen it. But the 90 W adapter is not as bad as what the people call it. It is a bit bulky but not by much.

I think that there is a pattern emerging out with the T8300s being shipped with the 90W adapter... IMHO, There must be some reason for why they are doing it.
