What will you be using it for? The extra $195 for the T7300 adds a of cost to the system and will likely give you only a small increase in performance that you may not even detect.

 

It's cheaper to buy ram separately

 

so are you saing the 1.8 would be the best buy if you had the money?

 

1.6 would be best.

 

I have the money and I got a 1.6. I am all down with paying extra for more performance I am going to notice, however the 1.6 is way more than I need for standard computer use, and the video card will be the bottleneck in games. I am not doing a lot of number crunching, rendering, or media encoding so the 1.6 is fine

The same specs got me $1444 before this coupon. There's already a $273 coupon and your coupon does not stack on top of it. I even tried the EPP from my work and it still does not dip below $1200.

 

How much did you pay for your system and when did you ordered it?

 

I probably will be running photoshop, movies, and maybe some video games on it. I just want to have something that can last a little bit longer. The 2.0 Ghz also have the 4MB L2 cache instead of the 2MB L2 cache in the 1.6 Ghz.

 

I ordered my PC on July 13th. It was $599 for the Vostro with a GeForce 8400, 120GB drive, DVDRW, Core 2 Duo, and a 9 cell battery. Then I spent $20 for Bluetooth, and $30 for the webcam, my total was $649+shipping. I bought the Intel wireless card myself for $11 on eBay, and a I bought the 6 cell battery because the laptop does not fit in my bag very well with the 9 cell.

 

Wow! What were the discounts available back then? What warranty did you take? Is it an XGA or XGA+ screen? But I have mine with 2GB RAM included and upgraded from 1.6GHz to 2.0 GHz processor.

 

I think the initial 599 was the value package from dell.

 

correct the whole deal was 599 shipped.. same with the vostro 1500.. see my sig for what i got during the better discounts...

 

buy the ram later 1gb sticks are like 39$ each now and 2gb sticks are about 90$ now..

as long as you get the 800mhz fsb you can always upgrae later to a faster procc i am a believer in get the fastest you can now so it lasts a bit longer.. i dont buy notebooks very often.. imo i would def take a t7xxx over the t5470 though just me maybe though..

 

With that $599 base price, adding 2.0 Ghz processor, XGA+, 120GB hard drive already push the price above $1000. I still gotta add the graphics card, bluetooth, and 2gb ram. The smart value I used is better

I got XGA, 1 year warranty. I never really go with extended warranties. If this drops after a year I just have an excuse to get something else

 

Ahh, so by adding 2 year warranty, XGA+, 2.0Ghz Intel, 2 GB ram, I can see how there's a $400 difference between your and mine. Of course, you may still have a better deal at that time, after having the same specs.
