    im pretty set on what i got.. only thing is, im kinda thinking i shouldve got 2gigs of ram instead of 1, its about a 100 dollar upgrade

    i know vista can be a hog on memory with laptops..? you think its worth it? should i really, honesty get it? or should i just get it later??

    I think after you install all your apps (virus scanner, etc), you will definetly need 2GB of RAM. There are lot of instructions online to do this. But believe or not, there are instructions in the Dell 1420 manual that shows you. All you need small philips screw driver.

    You can find good prices on DDR2 SODIMM 667mhz on hot deal sites. Its not hard at all to do. Shouldn't be more than 40 bucks. You might as well do 4GB with announcements that Vista sp1 will recognized 4gb. That is usually 80 bucks after rebate etc.

    Vista 64bit already sees 4GB ;)

    But yea, adding memory is really easy and much cheaper than getting it from Dell.

    you can buy RAM outside of Dell cheaper I think. Its self installable.
