    Hi,

I just ordered an Inspiron 1720 on Dell canadian site to replace my old (but still very good!) Inspiron 8600.

My old inspiron has a 15.4" screen with high 1680x1050 resolution, so I also opted for an high resolution for my new 1720, but I have a few questions.

I have heard in that forum some complains about a grainy screen on new inspirons screens. Will this problem affect my screen? Here is the definition of the screen on the Dell.ca website "High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200)". In that definition, there is no mention of "TrueLife", but when I click on "Help me to choose", it is said that all 17" screens have a "TrueLife", so I'm not sure

Is someone can give me all the details of my selected screen??

    Thanks!

Here are the complete specs of my purchase:

    Inspiron 1720 Midnight Blue, with T7300 (2.0Ghz)
    2Go DDR2 RAM
1920x1200 high resolution screen, with 2Mpx webcam
    nVidia GeForce 8600GT 256Mo
    2 hard drive of 160Go
    Vista Home Premium french
    SoundBlaster Audigy software
    Bluetooth
    Standard wireless card (Intel a/g)
    Office Student 2007
    6 Cell battery

    Interlink ExpressCard remote bluetooth VP6600

^^^ I just ordered mine yesterday and also went with that screen. What I've read online and seen in person (at the Dell mall kiosk) is that 2 of the 3 types of 17" screens are True Life, including yours. Your 17" 1920x1200 is: UltraSharp WUXGA+ w/ True Life. I've read from others on here that you do not notice that the screen is grainy unless you press your nose up against it, so you should hopefully be good.
