    I'm so excited

Thanks to kickin1019 and Entropy9 from FW for hooking me up with a 30% off coupon.
I'm on a budget of 1800, and thus earlier Dells (good ones) were out of reach, and the general opinion was Dell does not give coupons for these systems.
Today was apparently my lucky day - hope they dont cancel my order.
    I got:
    17" WUXGA
2GZ dual core (this upgrade from 1.83Ghz added 115$ to final price)
    512MB ram
    NVIDIA® Quadro FX 1500M, 256MB (dedicated), OpenGL
    60GB 5400 HDD
    Intel® 3945 802.11a/g Dual-band Mini-Card
    No bluetooth
3Yr Parts + Onsite Labor (Next Business Day) (this gave me additional 12% off system)

Final total including tax, shipping: $1842

    Any comments on configuration ?

Yeah I know RAM sucks, but I'm on a budget and Dell charges an arm and a leg for upgrades. I will buy RAM myself and upgrade.
HDD is also a bit small, but I had to cut costs somewhere to bring total to ~1800
The laptop will be used for heavy duty university work, no gaming :D

    :)

AHH!!! I'm so jealous, I got a "30% off ANY system" cupon for EPP, and they said I cant use it on an M65 :( oh well, I'm getting it anyways, at least I get the 12% off for EPP

I would like to know what are the factors you guys considered when you go for M90 instead of M1710. I am torn between these two laptops. Thanks.

Congrats. The M90 is a spectacular machine. I've had mine for a week now and I love it. The 1500M may be the less powerful card, but it's still pretty strong. I've been playing quite a few games on it and it handles them all like a pro, even F.E.A.R. But the best part is the looks and the build. The thing is rock solid. No flex anywhere, much different than my old Latitude C640 here. I think you'll be very happy.

I got the dvd-rom (no dvd or cd burner).
As I've mentioned I am on an extremely tight budget, buying a dvd-rw write would have cost 40$ or more extra; plus I already have an external NEC ND3500 dvd writer (which will be better than anything Dell puts in, very low write errrors etc).
I chose not to get the XPS as:
    1) it was turning out to be more expensive.
    2) I will be laughed out of school if I bring that thing to university.

The M90 is a sleek business laptop, meant to be carried around, it may be tougher than the XPS. I'm also hoping I'll get a better service from dell on it (Next Business Day Parts and Labor On-Site Response)

I havent receive the laptop yet :D It will be shipped july 11.
Anyhoo - I dont think I will have much of an opinion on audio/video. I'm quite satisfie with the audio of my 4 year old T30 hooked up the Logitech Z560 speakers.
Video - I'm not a gamer. Only issue for me will be screen quality. The screen is the same as that on Inspirons - and there is reputed to be some light leakage - hope its not bad !!! :(

I'm sorry I missed this post.
You SHOULD be able to get it to work on the M65 - its the same coupon I used. Call them up again and ask, mention its supposed to work on all systems, that coupon specifically says so.
Let us know how it goes.

Nope... I think because I'm going through the General Dynamics EPP, its the biggest EPP customer so they have their own people and hours.. oh well, I got the D820 for $1850 with exery option except 4GB of RAM (I think 2GB is plenty lol) so I'm happy, this should be plenty for me.

Yes, 'kingcrowing is right'. I work for General Motors and I can use the coupon for XPS or Latitude models. So I get to bite the bullet and settle down for either M1710 or D820.
