What do you think about this deal

    1.66 core duo
    1 gig ram
    intel integrated 950 card
    dvd burner
    intel pro wireless
    40 gb HD
14 inch matte screen (i was afraid truelife would bring more light leakage)

for $801.95, thats with tax and shipping

1 year warranty. no software. i just wanted the computer. I dunno i called some lady and told her i had to have 1 gig of ram since they stopped the free upgrade offer. then she said she made some modifcations to a student package of the E1405 she had. Then i also gave them a 35$ off coupon. total unit price was 753 i think then with tax 801

What is a studnet package? And when your laptop arrives, post on how yours performs since I plan on getting the same thing. Be sure to mention the light leakage.

dunno if this is any help to anyone, but i got my 1405 brand new in box from the Anandtech forums from a private seller...we traded some hardware for his new laptop.

May want to keep an eye out for that stuff, but you kinda have to trade "at your own risk"

    My e1405...

    T2300
    512mb RAM
    60gb sata
    DVDRW +/-
    14" widescreen w/ truelife
    Dell Wireless
1 year warranty transfered to me from the guy i bought it from.

    $750 shipped to my door.

I like it alot, and have minimal leakage at the bottom, i can barely notice it when i full screen a dvd or sorpanos clips.

Do you plan on upgrading the HD? If so, to what size, and how much will it cost?

Ordered mine on May 23 ...

Status showed the build process was complete on the 24th and has been in "Boxing" since then.

I paid for next-day shipping ... which oddly, the shipped the USB key I ordered with my compy on friday and it arrived today. BTW - The new Cruiser Micro with retractable connector is really sweet looking (ensure you remove the u3 crap though.

By the way for those of you watching, Aero WILL RUN on the GMAs that are shipping with these machines I've seen it in person.

I'll post back when my system ships. :D
