I am noticing Santa Rosa is expected to be around a lot sooner than I had anticipated.

I got a great price...and in all likelihood after Santa Rosa prices will jack up nicely...

    But still...thoughts?

    Really?

It seems like Santa Rosa is another baby step, like Core Duo to Core 2 Duo...

i wouldn't cancel. If you can do what you need to do and be happy on that laptop, I would just keep it. Centrino Pro will be more expensive than what you're paying for the laptop right now. And even then, that's going to be outdated for newer technology in less than a year.

    that's just my personal opinion.

    good luck either way.

if you need the notebook now - get it. if not - dont.
There always will be better option and for example its always good to wait for something new thats coming up. when santa rosa comes there'll be other technology and there's always the question for you : get or wait...

I wouldn't cancel for several reasons:
    1. you got a great price.
    2. Santa Rosa will be very expenssive for the next few months.
    3. Santa Rosa is still unproven technology, its a little risky.
    4. Once Santa Rosa becomes in affordable prices, there will be a new tech. around the corner, and then you'll ask again should I wait or not...

    Just get it.

I agree alot with this statement. If you need a new notebook now get it, if not then cancel your order for a 9400 and wait. Santa Rosa is just another step forward and we have to wait for notebooks to actually come out before we find out exactly what it will mean to us as far as a step up in performance goes. But if you want to wait Santa Rose is supposed to be coming out later this month or early May so you don't have to much longer to wait. Dell will likely be one of the first to get Santa Rose machines out on the market (they always seem to be one of the first) and while it will probably cost more at first, I can't see you not being able to get a good price from Dell in the end. That is one of Dell's hallmarks after all.
