The only item I picked that said "may delay order" was the Ruby Red lid.. if I were to have them change my order to have a black lid, will this significantly change my ship date? Or should I just deal with it and wait?

Talked to Dell and they said the processor has a 8 day wait time, Ruby red lid cover has a 12 day wait time and some other part has a 4 day wait time and then they need another X amount of days to build the laptop after parts come in..

In the end the rep upgraded me to next day air for free.

I guess that will help ease the pain of wait times.

    Specs are:

    Ruby Red Lid
    T7500 (2.2ghz)
    160gb 7200rpm HD
    2gb Ram
    Intel Wireless N
    Webcam
    Nvidia 8400M GS
    DVD Burner

Basically, I got the fastest, top of the line parts you can stuff into the 1420 sans the 8gig of ram (which isn't worth the money).

Jet black is the only way to go if you want it soon.

What number did you call? Is there a chance that one could make a last minute change? I ordered yesturday and it tells the that the EST Shipping date is AUG 29th. I ordered the 1520 instead of the 1420 though...

Well, thats what I thought too, but the rep had got the hardware tech on the line (supposedly) and came back and gave me the specific dates on which parts was delayed. Not only the lid, but the processor, LCD and color lid were all delayed.

Oh well, I bet if I wait like 2 weeks then call them up complaining about it taking so long, perhaps I can get 10% off my order? ;)
