Just ordered m1330 with 3GB ram. This will not run in dual channel will it? Should i have gotten 4gb from dell for $250 which i thought was steep. I was planning on upgrading on my own. I guess the point of the question is does m1330 have user accessible 2 ram banks? Thanks!

Yes and they are simple to get to. Simnple, unscrew a few screws on the bottom, remove ram cover, unclip both modules, place in new modules and voila.

You should have asked for 1Gb ram and then clicked them in yourself...this would have saved.

    Flamenko,

Thats for the prompt response. Normally i get the least amount of ram possible with dell. However I started with the reconfigured $1399 special as it made the most sense. I configured tons of ways that an EPP got me another $200 off so I got a total of $1000 saving (off of dells fluffed prices).

Based on my config i assume they will use 1 2gb stick and 1 1gb stick. I can still order a 2gb stick online cheaper then the $250 dell wanted.

    Flamenko,

Kingston KTD-INSP6000B/2G 2GB Dimm is $65. I can throw on of those in and take out the 1GB or do you recommend i get 2 Dimms from kingston and replace all with matching brand / pair. Thanks,

Intel Santa Rosa platform will run dual channel on 2 GB. I don't see any points to upgrade the RAM since 32 bits OS can not see full 4 GB anyway. I think, 3 GB for you would be more than enough. I would recommend you stick with with what you got and save money unless you are going to use 64bits OS, which isn't really a practical way at the moment.
