Should I send it back? It's my first laptop, but I don't really like the screen. I don't have anything to compare (other than my main 19" lcd screen) , but I don't like how it looks...
What do you think? Anyone else got an AUO2077? (1440x900)
-
lol, you don't like the screen because its a AUO2077 - I've got exactly the same screen and its fine. LG isn't the only good screen!

Since I first started the computer, I noticed that the screen wasn't very... clear, it's hard to read. I thought it was because it was using the battery, so I connected the computed, and it was pretty much the same.
After that, I checked my screen manufacturer and google'd it to find out I'm not the only one having problems with it.
Maybe it's just that I am used to my 19" Sony LCD Monitor, I'll use it for a few more days...
Anyone else with AUO2077 having problems? How can I test the screen to see if it's a real problem?
EDIT: I can't find the CD/DVD "archiver" (to store cd/dvd's) which I have seen in some reviews. Is it normal? -

Is this an LED or not?

My replacement came with an AUO2077 and it looked fairly comparable to the LG I had. My other issues with my first laptop (i.e. the CPU whine and HDD noise) was also in the replacement, so I'll be keeping my first laptop with the LG screen. The AUO2077 looked great though...

I don't know... I have been using it for a few days and I still see the screen "yellowish"... I don't know if it's just me... but my eyes hurt after a while of reading on this screen...
Should I return it? How could I know if it's a screen problem? Any test? -

I just recieved a replacement M1530 today for the same reasons,Auo screen was bright enough but had the shimmer/grain and severe light bleed on all sides,Dell sent me new laptop with the CMO LED,whites are super bright, lettering and icons are crisp. Very little light bleed, still slight grain, however much improved over any CCFL displays ive seen recently.

Mine has the AUO screen and I actually think it looks fantastic. To each his own I guess.

There seems to be variation in quality even with LG manufactured panels,Ive had several (LG) in various manufacturers laptops come through and some have as much shimmer/grain as any of the other LCD Suppliers

So what do you think? Should I return the laptop? Maybe I feel it's "strange" because I have been using my LCD screen (for the main desktop) for over 2/3 years (19") and I am not used to reading in a new screen / size / resolution (from 1280x1024 in 19" (where the windows now seem to be HUGE!!) to 1440x900 in 15.4" ).
It could be that? What if I return the laptop and the replacement screen is even worse?
thanks -

I also have the LG 1440x900 display, and yes it too has some grain to it (most notable on a white screen). I agree that there seems to be some quality gaps among all manufactures - but to label all screens from one manufacture as poor is probably not fair.
Just curious what video card to get with it? That might have something do with it but I might be wrong on this point.
For me getting used to a 'glossy' display was the biggest factor - I'm sure this amplifies the grain appearance in the screen. If dell had an option for a matte screen I would have defiantly chosen that one -
Where do you check to see what screen type you have? I'm completely noob to vista, and I have yet to start using my XPS m1530 (the cheap version from BB)

Actually Im a bit confused with grainy LCD issue. Is the grainy/sparkle is a type of defect or is a screen special spec/characteristic?
My Dell CSR said the screen was made/purposely to be like that (sparkle). I wonder it got some extra coating for the panel.
Everybody complaining about SEC screen in Dell laptops but Toshiba laptop with SEC screen is clear crystal with zero grains.
Just received my M1530 - Screen AUO2077
