    Just received my Vostro 1500 - UK Screen Grain???

    Hi all

    Firstly thanks for all the advice from everyone on this board for helping me choose a laptop.

    I have got my Vostro 1500 this morning and on the whole I am really pleased with it but I cannot decide if I have a grain issue with the screen.

    On full brightness the white colours on this website seem to have a greyish sparkle effect. The more darker colours seem more crisp.

    I have the WXGA screen (1280x800) Truelife.

    I guess the whole thing is not as crisp as I would like. I know it is hard to comment with no picture but I am not sure if i have an issue or not.

    Also recieved mine today and yes the white does look a little dirty, however other colours seem very crisp. Other that that i am very happy with the machine.

    see if you have the auo screen, the regular wxga doesnt have as much of an issue with grain from what i have seen as it does with simply poor colors, whites dont look white imo.. and yes darker colors on the auo are much better than the whites are... if you dont have the auo screen then im not sure without seeing it

    I just phoned up the delivery company and mine is arriving at around 4.30ish. I ordered the 1440x900 screen... i hope it doesnt look bad!

    All Vostro/Inspiron have grainy screens. Just some people do not see it. Check your screen manufacture.

    Ordered Wednesday last week and got priority delivery! The screen is the 'LPLCC00' one which I believe is a LG one.

    Thing is if I go through the trouble of returning and replacing, what are the chances of getting anything better???!!!

    I am going to my local electronics shop later and I am going to compare with other brands as I have a mental note of what my screen looks like. It may be I am looking for something that is not there due to all the hype about Dell screens. It will soon become apparant when I compare screens.

    I will report back later.

    I just recieved mine. it is an auo screen and it is a bit grainy, only noticeable in the whites really. But overall i am very happy with the laptop and ive decided to keep it rather than bother returning it or replacing it, even though theres no guarantee i will get a better screen.

    DAMN you delivery in under a week! mines still in production!

    Take the laptop with you to the computer shop and if some asks what your doing just say you want to compare the screens. But thats me i know when i get there ill be like now was my screen better or worse than that .

    What did you say to them? ive ben in production since 30th i mean seriously how long does it take to put a lego parts together? If i dont get a change in confirmation im ringing up tomorrow and seeing what the hold up is, i can understand a delay on pre-production ie getting the parts but a production shouldnt be a cause of delays.

    I seriosuly wouldnt be suprised if that was the case, even got an email from a senior customer service executive which ive been told is 3rd or 4th level :S

    I was stalling on doing a deal and said I would order it if he could try and prirotise the order for a quick delivery. He said he would do everything he could.

    I ordered and tracked it to see it be despatched from Ireland 2 days after ordering!!

    Incidentally, i went to compare screens and decided in the shop that my screen is not up to standard. However, i got home with the image of the other screen in my head and switched mine on only to find that it looked alot like the one in the shop!!!

    I really need to do a side by side comparison i think!!

    Well i got the senior customer service guys details so i will send him and email and see if he can speed anything up.
