After waiting 40 days I am very disapointed to end up with a graint Samsung panel...

I will return it, but I don't know if I want to try to get another one.

It is my believe that most, if not all, og the 1680 screen right now vomes with the Samsung panels.

    What do you think?

If I was ordering I'd do as PAUW... WXGA+ LED or WUXGA. I was lucky to get the WSXGA+ LG screen after a long and exhausting battle with Dell.

After much persistence (phone calls, service calls, and escalations) I managed to get my 1680x1050 upgraded to a 1440x900 LED for free, with no need to reorder, or send in my current laptop until new one arrives. I will miss the higher resolution, but for a lot of things it was too small for my old eyes anyway. I would recommend the LED to anyone. Battery life, colors, and overall display are just so much better.

There is actually a way to guarantee you will get a LG WSXGA+ in a M1530. It's adds about $200 to your cost...

Order your M1530 with the 1280x800 screen from Dell (saving $100)
Order the XK309 from Dell Parts for ~$300

Install the screen yourself or If you play your cards right you can get Dell to send a Tech to do it.

Sell your Samsung panel on Ebay for $50 and your cost is around $150.

When I ordered my last M1530 after exchanges and returns I ordered the Xk309 from Dell Parts. I canceled my order once I found out I was getting a LG screen.

Lol Not at all worth THAT much trouble, now either the 1400x900 LED or 1200x1900 are up for grabs

I am planning on returning and reordering to replace my 1680x1050 screen with the 1440x900 LED. What department did you speak with to get the exchange for free without having to reorder?

I went through regular customer care for XPS, the agent said there was nothing he could do, but asked if i wanted to be escalated up the ladder (whatever that meant). They called me back and I got this setup. My best advice is to know what you are talking about, stay patient, request at least 1 screen replacement, and talk about how you tested on other monitors, HDMI through TV, and with different drivers. The guy I finally talked to was very reasonable and helpful.
