How much memory did your notebook have before you upgraded? How much memory did you put in each slot?

If there was one module of 256MB memory and you added another module of 1GB memory and the system is still showing 256MB memory, it means your 1GB of memory isn't showing up.

The following could be your problems:

-1GB Memory module isn't seated properly
-1GB Memory module isn't compatible with the system
-1GB Memory module isn't compatible with the 256MB memory module
    -1GB Memory module isn't working

Is this information helpful? Did it solve your problem?

you can tell if its not working by doing this: take out the 256 mb dimm out of your system.

Try to boot it up now. Does it work with ONLY the 1gb installed ? If not.. you got a dead dimm on your hands. IF it does work then that means the dimm is fine and you got another problem.

just to verify, it is 1024MB-DDR333, 333MHz, PC2700 that you bought?

also, what brand is it, some like GEIL have weird timings that dont work in all laptops. can you post the link to the newegg product?

The m1330 should be able to handle 4 GB. If you're on 32-bit Windows you won't be able to make use of it.
