    Hi,
    I just got a Inspiron 6000 -
    The Nice specs on it are . 100GB HDD(5400 RPM) - 1GB Memory - 2200 wireless card w/Bluetooth - 128MB DDR Raedon X300 - DVD Burner - 15.4 inch WUXGA LCD - With Windows Media Center

I paid 1060 for this after shipment and taxes!!

I am getting problems with the battery and Wireless card - So i have an excuse to return it without incurring any fees.
( Dell have said they will ship out a new Battery, and the wireless problem can be solved by reinstalling the OS drivers )

I am thinking of getting a XPS140 - The Inspiron is so much heavier compared to the XPS and the XPS looks a little cooler.
On the XPS - The main features i want to get is the TrueLife & Bluetooth with the same HDD and memory as above.

I am looking to get this for about 800 after shipment and Tax.

Please Tell me Which is the better deal. Would you keep the Inspiron 6000?? Or get the XPS140.
I don't play much games.... Alot of reading of articles and online chatting and little things as that. But soon will be doing some video and sound editing.

Let me rephrase my question. Thank you for your response btw.

Well the reason i want to get the XPS is because of it's portability mainly. The other features are a add on..and i will most likely rarely use it.

I need a portable machine with which i can listen to music and watch videos. .. and write alot of papers with and get on the internet wifi in certain areas.

The inspiron 6000 i have is loaded!! but it's not very portable..

Do you think i should stick with it, because of the great deal i got..or save a couple hundred dollars and get the xps for the time being??

please reply soon..because my 21 day return is coming up soon!

I say go for the xps m140 or look into the 710m. Both machines sound like what you are going for. I personally like the m140. Hope this helps.

Is the 6400 anounced yet? I know it was alluded to in the dell spreadsheet that appeared on google last week, but is there an official release date?

Would love to know as that would be ideal for me.

Well i found this deal for the XPS 140 - for 740 after taxes and shipping fees!

    I was amazed too!!

It is not as powerful as the insp 6000 - but for that price I can cope!!

It has a 512 1dimm memory. 80 GB hdd, intel 2915 with bluetooth
XP PRO and Sony DVD +RW Dual Layer.

Only thing missing was the true life..but after reading forums i guess the true life screen is not all that special.

But thanks for the replies. I hope this laptop is everything i hoped and more!!

Go with the XPS M140. It is lighter and smaller and I think its nicer then the 6000. Its only about 1 lb lighter. I have the XPS M140 and its not a truelife. The scree is still very nice, and I don't really care if its a truelife or not. The trulife gets a 10-20% better contrast ratio, but it reflects. Also since the XPS M140 has 1dimm, get a 1GB stick from new egg. That will really help! :)
