    Keeping Partitions

    I got my laptop with XP home and want to reinstal it to windows XP pro, is there any point keeping your HD is 4 different partitions?

    Other then backup

    Please see the format sticky for more information on the partitions. I've detailed what each partition is, and have given suggestions as to which to delete and the ones not to.

    If you are interested in MediaDirect, you need to keep partition 1.

    I deleted my recovery parition because if you have a standalone Windows XP CD you dont really need it, well expect for the drivers, but most computer companies provide drivers online, so you can just get the drivers online and burn them to a CD.

    so basically i was dumb and now i dont have meida direct, o well, who actually uses it and how much battary would it actually save?

    You can still get it back, if you want. You need to repartition your HDD so that you have 2000mb of unpartition space at the end of your HDD. Then you would be able to repair like you normally would if you kept partition 1.
