I've been getting this weird problem with the 'M' key on my keyboard.

It randomly doesn't acknowledge a keystroke. And it's completely intermittent. I'll just notice that an M is missing from my messages or from a URL.

Latest BIOS and Chipset upgrades are installed, that's what Dell Support told me to do. And then nothing.

I really don't want to send my laptop in, it's always such a hassle.

Any ideas? I know if I wait long enough I can just replace the keyboard off of Ebay if it's the hardware that's the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Your laptop is under warranty. If you only have mail in service give them a call and have them send you a new keyboard. You can install it yourself.

Go to the support page for the 1747 and there will be a link to manuals in the menu on the left. Select service manual to look at what is involved in changing it yourself.

Well I talked to Dell and they want me to ship the whole thing in. I need it for work and school so I cant really just not have it for 10-15 days.

Has anybody found any sites selling 1747 or 1745 keyboards yet?
