I have been using the 640m for a couple of days now and one of the things I have been realizing is the unresponsiveness of some of the keys on the keyboard. At first I thought it was a driver issue but then realized it wasnt. The keys work if I click it directly in the middle, but if I click it any other place, most of the time, it doesnt appear. Could this be a hardware issue? Id really hate to bring my computer back to dell to get it replaced since I will be using it on a regular basis. Any comments, opinions, and advice would be greatly apprecated
    Thank you

if you call, they can probably ship you a new keyboard and you replace it then ship the defective one back.

Is there a non-hardware defect answer to this or is it most likely due to hardware?

jun85, I also notice this issue with my 'w' key on my keyboard. It is highly annoying, and sometimes I consider calling dell and getting a replacement. IT seems like such a small issue though that I don't even care that much, but... ehh... like you said, it works fine as long as I push right on the center, but a little off to the side and it won't.

I called dell. It was a depressing feeling having to use the screw driver to open the system not even a week in :(. Long story short, I have to call them once I get the serial # on the keyboard, and then they will ship me a new keyboard so I can replace it. Somehow, the two screws behind the battery are different from one another so I have to go hunting for a screw driver that fits the screw.
I have to go back to school in like two weeks so I really need to hurry. I dont think I can go living with the same keyboard when I use it to type so much. Its random keys for me but especially the "C" key.

Is this a problem with all Dell laptops or this specific model or is it just an individual hardware prob? Is your notebook keyboard working fine?
