I installed this optional windows update...IVT Corporation - Other Hardware - DELL Bluetooth Device. Now I cannot see my bluetooth chip, the update is not listed in the uninstall list, and I have lost all BT functionality.

    Anyone have any ideas???

    Start > Computer > Right-Click > Manage > Device Manager > Bluetooth Radios > Right-Click > Properties > Driver > Rollback Driver

Now this was done from memory, so I may have missed a step, but I think you get the idea...

Ok, I'll give this a try as soon as she reboots.

Seems to be hanging installing some other update now. Awesome.

Reboot, go to Dell's site and get the original driver file and reinstall.

Yeah, trying that now. Says it's still installed, so I have to uninstall the Vista Profile Pack first. Interesting...

Going into safe mode to see what can be done. Still not seen by the BT control panel program.

For future reference, don't install hardware updates from Windows Update. Yesterday, I ignored my own long-standing advice on my spare desktop and installed a network card update for Vista, and it killed the NIC. Rolling back the driver restored the original excellent performance, so maybe it will work for you also.
