    Hi guys:

    Everest currently reads the following:

    CPU (idle) : 50C

    GPU (idle) : 70C

I find these temperatures a bit high... are they ok?

My laptop doesn't feel very warm really but the sensors on everest make me think the other way around... do you know the normal temperatures for a t7500 2.2 ghz and an Nvidia 8400M GS 128 mb??

    Thanks

Yeah those GPU temps seem pretty high. Have you tried looking at your gpu temp through the Nvidia control panel?

I have a t7300/8400m gs and right now I'm getting 51C for gpu and 43C for cpu (From Notebook Hardware Control)

fyi, different programs give different temperature measures.....don't understand why, but the differences can be quite significant. i would suggest measuring w/ another software before you decide to ship it off for repairs

Dude, you have a desktop...meaning you have a big badass cpu cooler. Laptops have very little room for fans. Also, since all the components are close together, there is little airflow compared to a desktop. So you can't compare desktop and laptop cpu temp.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question, those temps are fine. The cpu will be safe up until 90* and the gpu will be fine until 120*

Yeah, i was thinking that as well. LOL. But 50c seems a bit high too. My 1.83 core duo used to run around 38c... if i remember correctly...

Yeah there's definitely room for improvement. Tho he has a faster cpu in a small 14" chassis. And it all has to do with the ambient room temps. If he lives in the south with no AC, his temps are going to be higher.

I know that my temps in the summer are in the low-mid 50s and in the winter they are in the low 30s. So that's a huge difference just based on the temp of the room.

My Quadro 140m (very similar to your 8400gs) in my laptop runs at 60 idle in Win XP Pro SP2.
If you run Vista Ultimate or have something that turns up your graphics card in Windows its gonna suck more juice and heat up, like some of the previous posters have mentioned.
