Knowing the Dell Vostro 1700 and Inspirion 1720 are nearly if not completely identical, what would be the best screen for this laptop? I am maxing out all hardware (CPU, Video Card), and I wanted to go with the Full HD screen, the highest resolution screen they offer. What would you say about this decision before I make my purchase? Is a Full HD screen going to slow the system down somehow over the next level down screen, I believe the 1440 X 900?
I was at a local Dell kiosk that had the XPS 17" laptops with the Full HD screens and they were so much better, but that was on an XPS machine.
This will be my first CTO Dell notebook purchase after weighing my desicions on other brands and finally settling on Dell. The Vostro 1700 is what I would like to go with due to it's added chassis strength over the Inspiron 1720 and no pre-installed junk.

I have an old 9300 with a centrio 1.73 m and it runs fine with 1920, 1200.

Any other opinions on the screen for the Vostro?
Plus, does anyone have codes that work to get money knocked off the Vostro 1700 because when I configure the Inspiron 1720 and Vostro 1700 with the same specs, the Inspiron 1720 is CHEAPER.
Opinions on the Inspiron 1720 vs. Vostro 1700 in any or all categories anyone? -
I got my 1720 with the 1920 x 1200 screen (samsung panel) in late September and mine is fine. The colours are fantastic, whites are white, blacks are black and minimal backlight bleeding (really have to look for it)Maybe I'm not as fussy as some people but I don't notice any grainyness.
Takes a little while to get used to the small fonts, but I'm really glad I got this resolution. -
sometimes the insprons are cheaper. depends on your config. mostly basic configs, the vostros are cheaper, but if you sup them up, then insprions are. id go with the inspiron if it is cheaper, they really are the same laptop in all.

Okay, thank you for the answers to my questions. Now, on Dell's website, Dell information for the Vostro 1700 shows it has a special sealed keyboard and mag alloy for added duribility, is the same EXACTLY true for the Inspiron 1720 notebook? Or, is this a way of Dell trying to make the Vostro seem better than the Inspiron but holds no truth to it?
Lastly, does the Inspiron have no bloatware as the Vostro claims you can get no bloatware?
