When I view my lcd from left or right angles the blacks look washed out and inverted. This is very annoying when playing games or watching movies that have a lot of black in them. My 5 year old LCD monitor doesn't have that problem!

Aside from that I also have to keep tilting my screen up and down in order to get the best viewing angle so that it is not too dark or too bright. I have the screen with the glare glossy coating, could this be what is causing the problem? I know it has been giving me headaches/migraines lately.

I wanted to know if this is normal for laptops, because I'm seriously thinking about calling dell to return my Vostro for a replacement.

Please be aware that this is my first laptop and I have a strong urge to head over to a local computer store to compare their LCD's to mine. But unfortunately its almost 9pm and everything is closed so I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

One thing I do know is... that I have become very annoyed of all the glare during daytime. :(

One bad thing I see is that if I get the LCD without the glossy screen the resolution will be lower. I don't think it should be that bad... this is my first experience with a glossy screen and it was good at first, but its been a little more over a week already and it's come to the point that I can't stand it during daylight. it's simply annoying!

Even normal LCD monitors for desktops are getting bad at screen quality, compared to one's from a couple of years ago.

I suppose one reason you can get a very large LCD screen for next to nothing.

Jimmy do you own a Vostro or a laptop? If so which, and do the colors look inverted from side angles?

I have an old iBook, matte screen with rotten viewing angles, and yes the colors turn weird if viewed from an angle. It's not a TrueLife vs matte thing, it's a viewing angle thing.

This is a great example of how the screen looks from right and left angles when viewing a picture or movie with black background. :(

    Is this normal???
