    Hi everybody,

I have a Dell 17" laptop and the screen shows this blueish green vertical on startup. After a few minutes of warming up the line goes away and the screen looks normal. The line reappears on reboot though.

Looks like this is a problem with the backlight/inverter. The laptop is almost 4 years old, but I would like to keep it going a little while longer.

Can anybody recommend a place to get this kind of repair work done? I am not comfortable doing that kind of repair myself and I want to send it to a professional. I am happy to mail out the laptop to have it done as long as the place is reputable. The place I used to use locally is out of business it seems.

    Thanks,
    Chris

look at the-parts-people perhaps. Replacing the inverter though is not a difficult job.
