    Hi,

    I have a Dell 1537 with an LGD018D 1280x800 LCD screen.
How do I calibrate it? I've seen a Toshiba today and I really think that my colours are really messed up, I can't seem to get them vibrant, real, live....
Black isn't quite black, it's kind of washed....

    What would you suggest me?

If you have the ATi 3450 graphics card, you can calibrate colors however you like with the ATi Catalyst Control Center. If you have the integrated Intel 4500MHD, there's a similar option in the Control Panel.

Is there a software I could use?
    Some reference images?
    I have the 4500MHD.

Then yeah, check the Windows Control Panel.

I'm not sure what I have to check. I went to Color Management but I can't see no calibration options. There are a few sRGB profiles though...

Please help. This problem is becoming serious.
After a few hours in front of it, my eyes start to hurt me.
I feel that I'm struggling my eyes when watching the screen, and I believe that it's because of the pixelated image( text doesn't seem smooth, I can clearly see the pixels for each letter) and the bad color settings.

That means that you ordered a Dell laptop with a screen with too low of a resolution. When you order a 1280x800 screen on a 15", you can definitely see the serrated edges of characters. You should have ordered a higher resolution screen. I have heard that the 1440x900 screen is perfect for a 15 inch laptop. If you are still within your return period, return the laptop and order a new one with a better screen. Since you have an Intel card, go to the Graphics Properties in the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Control Panel and adjust the colors there. As for the pixelated letters, you will just have to live with that since you ordered such a low resolution screen for a large laptop size if you are no longer within your return period.

I've tried adjusting the colors in Graphics Properties, but had no luck.
I can't find the balance between a dark image and a washed one.
    Any tips?
