I have an inspiron 1000 that appears to be overadjusted so that the top half and the bottom half overlap causing characters to disappear. Does this sound like a physical display problem or some type internal adjustment problem. On monitors you could adjust the pots inside to correct this type of problem, but I have never seen this on a LCD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't completely understand the issue, maybe a screen shot would help. But you might try removing the driver and re-installing it. If that fails, I'd be looking to send it in for repair.
