So I've been having this problem for awhile but I never really cared about it. Now I do care because the hinge is kind of creaking.

When I close the lid of my laptop, the LCD turns on, like its supposed to. Sometimes when I open back up, the screen wont turn back on. I open up the lid, nothing comes on, so I have to jiggle the mouse, then close the lid and open it again for the LCD to turn back on. It wouldn't be a big deal but I don't want to wear down my hinges.

I have the newest BIOS and all the updates, just some info.

Any idea why this is happening? Or better, a remedy?

Try reflashing the BIOS. I don't know why it happens but several users including myself had this problem. My problem was related to the BIOS for whatever reason.

You might also want to make sure that your laptop is not in standby mode. If your power light is flashing, then your laptop has entered standby mode and you have to touch a key/touchpad in order to wake it up.

Reflash as in get rid of it and then get the bios again?

How would I go about doing that.

No, reflash as in just flash it. It doesn't delete the BIOS, but it basically writes over the current BIOS. Think of it as updating the drivers - same thing. You can find the file on support.dell.com under Driver's & Downloads in the BIOS category. After you run the .exe file, it will pop up with a large box with some info and have a button that is labeled "Flash BIOS". Click on this button and it should reboot your laptop and flash the BIOS.

After you click the BIOS, it will most likely ask you if you want to upgrade to a newer version or you already have the latest version. Click Yes either way.
