I know this topic has been beaten to death. I am still deciding whether to get the LED vs. CCFL when I buy a new M1330. I can't imagine that the slightly better battery life or slightly thinner lid is worth $300. Where would a better viewing angle help? Virtually all the time I am looking directly at the screen, not at an angle. Its great that the LED display can be twice as bright, but if the CCFL is sufficiently bright, why would I need it. It seems the only time the LED display would helpfull is in bright sunlight conditions. Please help me decide.
    Thanks

As you said, this topic has been beaten to death.

Do a search and read through the numerous posts on this topic already. The info you're looking for has probably been posted a couple times.

$300? At that price it's not worth it. Here in New Zealand it's NZ$171, which is US$130

Dell is trying to milk it for all its worth. People are obviously willing to pay the added cost so Dell is obliged to charge a premium for it.

How much do thinness and light weight mean to you? How much will you be carrying the laptop around? Will you notice the .4 or so pounds the LED screen will shave off? Just ask yourself those questions. From what I've read and seen in person the standard display is actually nice enough looking to where I'm not sure what would be missed picture quality wise with LED.

I went with the CCFL. The way I look at it, the CCFL doesn't reduce the functionality of the machine in any way - the LED just happens to be a little better looking.

I expect in the next few years, LEDs will become standard issue on most laptops and the cost premium will disappear. I can take the $300 I saved buying the CCFL today and use that 2 or 3 years from now to help pay to upgrade to whatever laptop I happen to want then.

If the price difference had been $100, I probably would have went with the LED, but $300 was too much for me.

If you have the money, go for it.
    If you don't, then don't.

Well, if it means anything, I see it as $150 instead of $300 now for the upgrade.
