I'm planning on docking the M1330 that I'm ordering and getting an external Ultrasharp monitor to use at home. I'm wondering if I should bother with the LED? If I have both screens on at the same time, I'm afraid the LED is gunna make the LCD look like cr@p.

umm. no one seems to understand that LCD screens are LCD screens regardless of the backlight that is used...

LED backlit screens are brighter. they also use less power. thats important if you are on a battery, not so much if you are plugged in.

    so. there you go.

I believe they are lighter as well, but I can't find any specs on the weight difference between the two.

The LED backlights on your laptop screen will have absolutely no effect on your external monitor...if that's what you're asking.

I suggest that you go with the LED backlights regardless. It is one of the major selling points of the m1330. If, for some reason, you find yourself rarely using the m1330's screen, then the question becomes, why did you pay so much extra and sacrifice performance for ultraportability that you won't ever use?

Well, hes asking it as a comparative question. I would say the LED backlight would make the external LCD monitor look worse than it does on its own, but not too bad.

I say you should go for the LED screen if you have the budget for it. It really does not have a negative point other than price, but even that is pretty reasonable.
