I posted this in the Dell Latitude section and they recommended to post over here to see if I could get the attention of some of the Dell reps since I can't seem to PM them.

I bought a Dell Latitude E5530 on January 7th, 2013. Not even a month after I got it, I started to hear this loud cracking noise when I would open and close it. I didn't think anything of it and figured it was just the hinges getting broken in. Well yesterday I figured out the hard way that it was actually the hinge BREAKING.

This laptop is only two months old from when I received it, and the hinge has already worn out and broke. It has also broken off the plastic screw tap that holds the hinge to the monitor lid, and the DC Power socket is very wobbly and loose when it is plugged in (though it charges fine and is a separate issue altogether).

I called Dell today and they said that while my laptop is covered under warranty until January of 2015, that this problem is not covered under my "Limited Warranty". She transferred me to someone in Out of Warranty Parts and he said he could have it fixed and shipped back to me for $179, but I would be without a laptop for 7-10 days. It's the end of the semester during my senior year of my undergrad, and I can't just send my laptop off.

Here are the pictures and a video of my issue. Thank you for any and ALL help you can give me. It is greatly appreciated.

If Dell starts trying to stiff customers when an item is clearly a warrantied unit, they will finally lose long time customers who have always given them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to all the Dell Hell stories that have always circulated on the Internet. Hope your experience ends well.
