I have a dell Inspiron E1505 that has worked perfectly until now.
When the brightness of the screen is near max, a loud high pitched screech is emited from the computer. Even when the brightness is set to its lowest there is still a faint buzz.
If I continue using the computer at max brightness the screen will flicker from bright to dull.
    Whats the deal?

I called dell and they want to replace my screen for $500+
    NO WAY!

My m1330 screen makes a buzzing sound too. The lower the brightness the louder it gets.

Stupid Dell doesn't wanna give back my money. But they're sending another computer to me (again...) I'm gonna make them wish they gave back my money.

It's not the backlight itself I doubt, but rather the inverter which is not that hard to replace if you've worked inside computers much before. Google it up, but basically just remove the LCD, inverter is at bottom. Disconnect ribbon cables and replace with new one (check ebay for replacement inverters).
