Unless i am blind (which my wife says i am blind and deaf...lol) i was looking on the site for laptop bag reviews. Seeing as this whole forum is about laptops, i would assume most have bags!

I was looking at the kensington Contour (the non-roller type) for the e1705. anyone else have any suggestions fo this beast?

    thanks much!

I bought the Contour but returned it because it wasn't padded enough for my taste. I want a bag that will protect my 1705 in case it gets dropped, so I ordered the Brenthaven Duo. Three times the money, but I see it as insurance for my large investment. Other than that, I thought the Kensington was a great bag for the money. The inner sleeve can be taken out and attached to the shoulder handle for a small bag. I was really attracted to the idea of having two bags in one, since I don't always need a bigger case. I've owned laptop sleeves that were 2-3x thicker than the Kensington sleeve. The Kensington has a comfortable handle and the hardware felt very sturdy. So, if it had more padding, especially on the bottom, I would have kept it.

I found this link to several notebook bags that will fit 17 inch screens:
    http://mobileoffice.about.com/od/packingyourmobilegear/tp/17notebookcase.htm
I don't know a whole lot about any of the bags listed here but I went with the second listed one which Dell sells for $40ish along with several other online vendors. One thing I thought sounded good at least was it's constructed of 3360 Denier Ballistic nylon, and has a lifetime warranty. So hopefully it will be durable on the outside, not sure about how well padded the inside is though. Only one customer reviewed it on Amazon but seemed to like it.

I got the one that dell offers, the large backpack. Quite impressed I must say.

I got a python XL from http://www.booqbags.com/ for my 1705 and i have to say I love it. I have 2 external hard drives I carry with me since this is a desktop replacement + the power supply + I always have a few books with me and all the other little things that I need to work and this bag carries it all very nicely. it is a little on the overpriced side but i figure i spent 3500 on the machine what’s an extra 200 on a bag for it.

I carried less on my back during my time in the service. You have a dolly to lug all that around as well? :)

well 200bucks on a 35 hundred dollar machine makes it 3700, which bumps your total up around 4000 with the hard drives. So your paying more. thats the problem with the high prices for me. i want just enough so that if i drop it, it wont get hurt. for cheap preferably.

As my boss says "I am three Jennies" Jennie is one of the developers on my team and I am three times her size. The reason I bring that up is that for me its not that much to carry but I have to move 350 lbs just to walk so adding a few more pounds to my back is no big deal. I also don’t want to ever be without my gear I like being able to whip out my laptop and have everything I need when im ready to work no matter where I am. As for the price I figure I spend between 4 and 5 grand every 2 to 3 years for hardware but in my work the faster the hardware the faster I can get a project out so its worth the cost.

just my 2 cents but I love this bag.
