I have two old laptops on hand, a Inspiron e1405 and and a Latitude D820. The Inspiron has a bad screen and the Latitude has a bad motherboard. I'm trying to plug the screen of the latitude (15") into the inspiron (used to be 14"). I'm trying to turn them into a digital picture frame. When I turn the laptop on with the inspiron or no screen plugged in, it works fine. But when I plug the latitude screen in, the laptop will turn off almost instantly. Then it won't turn back on. To get it to turn back on, I have to unplug the power adaptar from the wall, then plug it back in and try again.

Anyway, is it possible to plug this larger screen into the laptop, or is the laptop powering off because it doesn't have the power to drive the larger screen.

Either a bad LCD cable or something is wrong with the inverter.
