Alright, over the past couple of days I figured out that my Dell 1520 was not properly coming out of sleep; however, the display was the only thing that didn't turn back on. The computer was clearly running, because the system sounds were present. So, I first wondered if there was something wrong with my laptop, but then I dug a little deeper around on the internet, and I found articles relating the problem to Windows Vista. So, I just want to know if others are having the same problem. Has anyone found a quick solution to fixing this rather annoying issue?

    Thanks.

I posted a subject on this just the other day, no one knows.
Everyone says hopefully it'll be fixed with the first Vista Service pack.
    We'll see!

Have you been here and applied these new patches? I think they are considered to be parts of SP1 which couldn't wait. They must go quite deep since several reboots are involved.

Yeah, it's a major problem. And others are having the problem, but no one seems to have any answers, except for that Vista is causing it. It's a really piss off, but I guess we will have to just wait and see.

I just installed the updates, and I have tried putting it to sleep twice, and both times it has woken up perfectly. So it seems John, the updates worked fine. Zydan, You said above that the updates didn't fix the problem, I am asssuming you restarted after both the updates, because if not the updates will not go into effect. Thanks John, and Zydan for the help.

I see you all have the Nvidia video cards. Did you stick with the Dell drivers or update them with something else? FYI, several Nvidia drivers choke on Vista's sleep mode. There's another active thread on this subject in this forum.

I am still on the Dell Drivers; however, I was going to update to Nvidia's newest later today, but seeing you just said some of them choke that is somewhat shying me away from the idea. I am going to search around for that thread, it might help.

That might be my problem then, I updated drivers from laptopvideo2go.
Maybe I'll try rolling driver back later, but I like the raise in performance from the updated driver.
    Oh choices, choices~!

    Hi boys and girls.

I've registered simply to throw a spanner in the works here, because the blame is categorically being thrown down at all the wrong gear.

I have an AMD powered 1501 with an ATI GPU running Windows XP Professional SP2 and I too experience a 'sleepy LCD' if you'll pardon the pun.

I find that shutting the lid and opening it again tends to fix the issue... however it is beyond irritating. This is not a Vista issue, an Nvidia issue or an Intel issue... this is Dell.

The notebook is but three weeks old, and bought by my employer through Dell UK. I decided to post because you all must be barking up the wrong tree for this fix if my system of complete manufacturers opposites is also suffering the very same ailment.

Well if you got to the OS section or do a search not just Dell laptops eperience this, many different manufacturers all have the same problem.

I currently use 163.11 from laptopvideo2go and have not had the problem.

I had this problem, and I just reinstalled the Dell drivers and that fixed it, so it seems like it was the laptopvideo2go driver that caused the problem for me.
