The tracking number that dell gave me indicates that the laptop has been delivered in a different state than where I live in
Has this happened to anyone ? :D

That has never happened to me..

Did you check today, to see the latest. I'm wondering if it was a tracking error, and they self corrected it?

I contacted them yesterday, got a resolution today. Apprently two orders (mine and another one) were shipped with the same tracking number
Judging from the internal email that was forwarded to me, the original order is now on its way back to dell.
A new order has been placed (so I have to wait again). The order information page for the new order shows I have been charged $700 more than the order I placed   I'm followiing up on this

Oh that's just not right... :( :nah:

You should contact Dell, and have them do something for you ~ For the error in shipping, the new order having to be placed ~ along with a further ESD time now, due to that, and your still being charged more.

Let us know what happened on the followup, and good luck!

    Cin.

After a couple more emails, it seems I wont be charged the difference.

But the new order description does not have warranty and completecare. The rep said I would get the original warranties as soon as my "exchange order invoices with Dell" whatever that means. So it seems I may have to do some more work on this :(

Well, that was nice of them not to charge you the difference.. (rolling eyes at Dell, not you) ;)

If they are giving you a new system (the same as the one they messed up)...I can't understand why Dell won't add the warranty and complete care?

All they have to to do is add it to the sytem...

This is not your fault. So, your replacement order should come with exactly what your originally ordered. My view is you should also get a bit of compensation to make up for their grievous error.

Sorry..this stuff gets me a tad feisty. ;)

I hope they get this all straightened out for you fairly quickly.

    Cin ;) :)

Yeah, I dont understand it either. Seems to be related to how orders are processed. This is what they said to me:
I'm not complaining too much as I got a fantastic price on the laptop (a price mistake of $550 on dell). So, as long as the laptop arrives OK and warranties get transferred etc, I'll be satisfied even if takes me some emails and some delay.

A Precision M6400 with 2.66Ghz CPU, 250 GB 7200 rpm drive, WUXGA RGBLED, 3 year completecare warranty; all for just under $1975 -- it cant be beat :)

The service has been great I must say. Everything was done over email. I sent the email yesterday about the order being delivered to yesterday, and I got the replacement order email today.

I would have liked some sort of compensation, but I dont know how to go about it. An extra battery, or a couple of 2GB sodiimm sticks woulg have been nice :D
But not too hng up on it, the order was placed just 8 days ago, this being placed as a corporate order from my univ also complicates things.

Oh my...Yes you got an awesome deal! :D Very nice there!

So, I guess that's the way Dell does things. Well at least your getting good service on this, and the replacement will be on its way to you!

Yes, I understand your feelings on compensation..I think its how you *phrase* it. You could say: how excited you were about the original delivery, you had anticipated using it by now, and due to something that happened not your fault..you have to wait longer. Also stating your a good customer, and is there anything they can do to make you feel at 100% again, about your order ~ these things help. :D

Ahh, was it being shipped to your Univ? I bet you can't wait to get shipping confirmation! ;)

    Cin ;) :)

Yes, its being shipped to univ. My name is not even on it. The univ gives laptops to us, and it was bought for me by the univ. The reciver name is "Accounts Payable" :D

I guess I'll let this screw up slide by, I dont want to take too much advantage of dell. In a twisted sense, I got this laptop only because dell screwed up (otherwise it would have been outside the budget assigned to me). I guess I must take the bad screwup as well as the good one

But if they screw up AGAIN, I'm asking for some sodimm sticks.

Aaahh ha! Now, I totally understand! :D ;)

Well, Accounts Payable is going to be happy to be getting a sweet lappy like that :D

Yes, it might be good to let this one *drift on by* per se! Next time..oh you get em! You get those sodimm sticks! :D

My bro' is getting a new lappy, and I think the one you purchased is the same thing! :D

    Cin ;) :)
