On new years eve i knocked a glass of wine onto my Dell Inspiron 6400 and immediately unplugged it and removed the battery in order to let it dry out for a bit. After trying it a few times and the laptop not turning on the battery light began flashing 3 times in red and then nothing still not turning on.

A day or 2 later when i tried it again it this time turned on and was working fine all day (about 12 hours) untill i accidentally pulled out the AC plug in the back and it turned off and now wont switch on at all. When i now press the power button the battery light turns red but doesn't blink and still get no power.

I have had to keep the laptop plugged in constantly whilst using it for the last 6 months or so and presumed the battery needed replacing,

Anyone got any ideas on what i should try or is it likely to be totally broken?

sounds like your motherbored is dead from the wine you spilt onto it

Have you tryed opening the laptop and drying it with a hair dryer it might still be wet inside

    UPDATE. . . . . .

i have now tried a new battery to see if this fixes the problem. The computer has now turned on using the new battery but it doesn't seem to be recognising the AC power supply, any ideas?

wine can leave a sticky layer over the connections, so those might need to be cleaned.
