I am about to order an M1530, I just have a few more questions.

    1) I can't select the LED screen. Does it make the notebook that more fat? I have the LED screen on my M1330 and it makes is pretty slim.

    2) Is there much difference between the LED screen and CCFL in terms of brightness?

    3) What parts are easy to replace besides memory? I'm thinking of having Dell place only 1GB ram and upgrading to 4GB myself to save (quite a bit of) money. Any other components that let me do that?

    4) Should I wait for the LED screen to appear? I know the LED screen is available on Dell.com but it doesn't seem to appear in Europe..

    Thanks again people!

I hate to argue with you, but the LED is lighter by ~100 grams according to the sources and is noticeably brighter. I have had both, and the LED is a delight to look at. It's very light compared to CCFL. If I were you, I would wait until LED would be available. You already have an m1330, so I don't think the wait would be that bad unless you desperately need an m1530 now. Otherwise, I would suggest you get it!

Thanks for replying. I sold the M1330 to my father though, I'm back to my old E1705. The LED screen does look a whole lot brighter, thanks for the comparison thread, ApocNarok. Repped :).

1)NO. They're the same size but the LED might be a tad lighter as Apoc said.
2)LED is much brighter. It lights up like a Christmas tree, I would say one notch down in brightness would equal my old Vostro at max.
3)Hard drive may be cheaper to upgrade on your own.

Hmm, I guess I'll wait for the LED screen then.

    Thanks everyone :).

hmmm... looks like no LED for the UK for a while. oh well.

Interestingly, buying from Dell UK Online, if you select the "Best" model to configure with the biggest discount, you can't downgrade the ram to 1gb, instead you're stuck on 3gb. No money saving there!
Meanwhile, no oppurtunity for a 7200rpm hard drive over here either. Nothing I can do about that then.

I know, my plan is to call them. They can manually downgrade to 1GB, or at least 2GB, I think.

OMG! Just now Dell sends me a 15% off coupon, which, combined with another 5% I have already, gives me 19,25% discount!

T8300, 3GB Ram, 1440x990 CCFL screen, 8600M GT, 6 cell battery for 800EUR/$1262 after taxes and shipping is a great deal! The only thing which worries me is the CCFL screen :(

LED will be lighter and brighter. The main advantage of having one though is they use less power so you get more battery life.

I think that while the led screen is desireable, it is not the extra special have to have that it is with the 1330. With the smaller machine, it made it that much more lighter which is important with a 13 inch size. With a 15 inch laptop I don't think the small amout of less weight is that important. It is thinner, lighter and brighter but I think if you can live without the brightness, the regular screen is probably just fine for you. It is a pity it is not available and that they had to send you the coupons now instead of when it is available. I guess you have to choose how important the coupons are versus waiting for the led. How long are you willing to wait and how important is price to you and how important is the led to you?

i really think if you're already getting that much of a discount, then go for it. I have a CCFL screen and I've seen the LED and i don't think the difference is that great. The screen on my laptop is still incredibly bright and I'm 100% satisfied with it. You don't know by the time the LED comes out that you could get such a good price.

Hmm.. I dont think you have bought the laptop yet and I dont know how often UK get those coupons.. Over here a 25% off coupon is available pretty often and that's what I used to get my price..

What you got tgere isn't really that good of a deal, Look at my sig, I have a T9300 instead of your T8300, I have 2GB of RAM but I'm planning to upgrade to 4GB once I get my laptop, so I'm saving money by only getting the 2GB, I also have the LED LCD which is $200 more, i dont know which HDD you have but i got the 250GB at 5400rpm, and my total came out to be $1283.48 after tax and shipping, dell gave me free next day air shipping too.. Now that is a better deal..

Just wanna tell you not to get over excited about a deal because it might not be the best deal.. And hopefully you haven't order it yet, but if you did you can always cancel it if you want and get a better deal..

You live in USA, we are European.

You always get the good deals, I think the one he got is also a good deal (considering the European market, of course)

I bought mine for around 950€ , and I think it was a good price (actually it was 800€ plus 150€ shipping, thanks DELL for such good shipping prices.)
