The latest driver is 8.12. You can get it from ati's website (i can't post links yet)
However, in order to install it you must use Mobility Modder (google it)

It doesn't really mater because that is some internal version. Instead, check the Catalyst Control Panel.

    one suggestion!
    100 % tested and worked!
    DON"T INSTALL ATI CONTROL PANEL!
IT SOMEHOW SLOW-DOWN YOUR VIDEO CARD IN GAMES!
I can play Need For Speed Undercover on High Performance and Prince of Persia On Medio (no time to test on High) - Windows Vista x64/XP!
    Everything is perfect.

I was before with Ati Driver + Ati Catalytic Control Panel and It was very hard for me "to play" NFS Undercover on Super Low Details!

TRUST ME YOU DO NOT NEED ATI CATALYTIC CONTROL PANEL!

I dont think I have the Catalyst Control Panel because I've only downloaded the drivers from the website and not the whole package.

Is there any other way to check?

If you didn't receive any message about not finding a compatible card then there's a pretty big probability it was installed correctly.

Whats the point in modding the ATI Catalyst driver for the Studio?

Installed 8.12 on my Studio and its working fine w/o modding. Really any benefit at all besides rendering the WHQL signature invalid and possibly hosing up blu-ray playback... Just don't see the reason for doing this unless I'm missing something...

I wasn't able to install the drivers pre 8.12 without modding and I assumed by default it will be the case in 8.12. Good to know it works without modding.

AS you said before CCC will only make your computer/Video Card slower!

So which one of them makes your video card slower in games ''Control Panel'' or ''Control Center''?

    Catalyst Control Centre

I guess it tries to control your video card, but because your video card is NOT normal Ati Radeon HD 3450......So it just slow down your video card in GAMES...
As I already said I can play:
    NFS Undercover - everything High - 1440x900
Prince of Persia - Medium (I don't have time to test on High)

And my notebook ( see the Signature) is not with the best CPU!

    You can try by yourself.
Download clear driver from Ati and mod it with Mobility Modder.NET!
Or just install only Driver from Dell's website.
CCC is well known for many problems and bugs.So it is bad choose.

Ive always downloaded the driver-only from ATI and modded it it with Mobility Modder so I cant say whether or not CCC actually slows it down.

Does anyone know if the latest drivers have improved anything over the previous?

    NO!
    3450 is old card.
New drivers are suppose to give you better performance but with LAST ATI RADEON VIDEO CARD!
With regular card like 3450 I highly doubt you will see improvements...
    I'm with 8.11!
I was on XP with some strange driver Catalytic version 2!
    The same performance......
