I just purchased two Dell Latitude CPx laptops for $270.00 each. Both are PIIIs, have a 12gig HD, and 256 RAM (upgradeable to 512). They came with a CD drive, floppy drive, battery, and a power cord/charger. Additionally, they came with an 802.1b wireless card (11 Mbps max). Both came preloaded with XP Pro, and the Office 2003 Suite (word, excel, PP, outlook, publisher). However, when they were re-imaged, both machines were formatted in FAT32. No software CDs were included with the machines. They were in great shape. Both came with the original box.
I bought them for the sole purpose of surfing the web and light word processing. I think that I got a great deal on them, but didn't do much homework on them. What do you all think, did I pay too much?
Now for the real questions:
I have a copy of XP Pro and Office 2003. Should I reformat in NTFS and reinstall my software? Everything seems to be working fine the way it is (if it's not broken, don't try and fix it).
They only have one USB port and it is not 2.0. Can I upgrade to 2.0?
Thanks,
Adam

You are still going to have to activate it even if you install it if it not a new copy of XP. Microsoft might do so if you have a valid COA.
You can get a PCMCIA USB 2 card.
