    Hello,

    First Post [8D]

I'm looking to get an Latitude D505 for basics stuff, ( email, internet and a very basic car computer program). My question is that there is not a lot of reviews on the net about this model. I think for me it is Build quality and Screen resolution ( flat panel quality )are the most important.

I saw in Dell boot in a mall, the Inspiron 1150 and 600M. The 1150 was not really good and even the 600M was ok not great. It is not like the Eizo flat panel monitors for desktop computers, lets say.

The 700m was great but the glossy screen is a bit anoying because of the reflections(my opinion).

How is the Latitude D505 Screen like ?

How is the build quality ?

    Thanks for your help,

    Intravino

I have a dell inspiron 8600 with pentium m processor 1.6 2mgcache, ati 9600 radeon pro 128mb, 512mb ram, xp home, 60 gb ata HD, and anyway i was trying to play roller coaster tycoon but it crashes on load, im sure my video card needs updated. Where can i get the most current drivers?.......i really want to update them. You can not get them from ATI, and i do not know where dell has them. I am reluctant to trying omega's drivers. Help would be appreciated.

The D505 will suffice for your email, internet and car computer program (dyno program?) The build quality of my D505 is OK, but not superior. Come on, it's made of plastic, so it flexes JUST a little, but not enough to feel cheap. The maximum screen resolution that my D505 in particular can go to is 1024x768. That's fine for me. The LCD screen itself is non-glossy and the colors will wash out if you're in strong sunlight (like any other LCD screen).

By the way, the specs on my D505 are:
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1500MHz
    512Mb of RAM
    DVD+RW optical drive
100gb Seagate hard drive (upgraded myself)
    Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller 64Mb
    15" screen

    Hey RedDog,

I'm using a OBD2 program to check sensors and the famous check engine light. I also own a website about this www.carplugs.com.

So I'm going to put the notebook on the passenger seat not under the hood[} :)].

Anyways, I use the laptop outside in the lawn, coffee shop, travelin( no more palm to read the emails [ :D]) and also business.

    Thanks for your help
