    My notebook has 512MB RAM.I wanna expand it to 2GB.Can i add a RAM without replacing the existing one?

    Nah, it probably has two RAM slots, so you will have to replace the existing one with 1 GB stick, and add another 1GB stick to the other slot. But if you don't mind 2.5GB of RAM, then you can just get a 2GB stick and stick it into the other slot.
