    Hi Guys,

After 4 years of faithful service my DVD/CD-RW combo has kicked it. And instead of buying another Dvd/CD-RW drive, I would like to upgrade to a DVD-RW. Is this possible for the D600? Has anybody done this successfully? I see 2 models available on Dell.com but they are pretty expensive and I don't know if they will be compatible.

I also found a cheaper one on NewEgg but again I question the compatibility.

Can someone tell me if I can get one of these drives and if it will fit okay in my Laptop? Or am I better off with an external? Thanks.

Any of the 3 models mentioned above will work in your lappy. But one thing. They might not match the color of your lappy and the plastic bezel might not completely fit with your lappy. The ones sold by Dell will most likely fit the best.

Yeah, you have to remove the bezel of the old drive and put it on the new drive to make look nice. That is what I did.

Thanks Guys - I think I will go with the NEC - don't care if the bezel fits or not? It gives it character without it!

i think u gotta take apart ur old drive so u cant that lockin feature of the d-bay module, though dont hold me to it, all i kno is hte newer inspirons have it much easier on optical drive upgrades since they use the standard interface and flat bezel
