I like the size of the Latitude D610. Compact, Light, easy to move around. Except it doesnt have Firewire. I guess its not that big of deal since i dont use digital video. Iam a little worried about the headphone jack being a problem. Does anyone know if they have fixed this ? Plus, Iam not into online games so Iam not considered a gamer. However I would like to buy a action pact multi player online game here and there for occasional use. Will i be greatly disappointed or will the Latitude D 610 hold up?

    Your input is appreciated.

Well i got it for school and mainly for the portability. It all depends on whether or not you could want a 15.4 inch one. I can play any online game currently on my D610 and they run pretty smooth. Overclocking the vid card is a must. It makes it just as good as the X600. But as a word of advice the inspiron 6000 is cheaper, and gets better battery life. Well i hope i helped.

If you consider the "What should I buy?" FAQ in the hardware forum and post there, we will be better able to assis you. There are better GPU than the x600. No one will beat Dell on price, but there are better built notebooks.

The D610 is part of a family that includes the bigger D810 and smaller D410. Though it has a 14" conventional aspect ration screen rather than the D810's widescreen 15.4", the total screen area actually isn't a whole lot less. The restrictions are fewer resolution options (no UXGA) and a lighter-powered gpu. But it has the same great keyboard which includes spill protection, a HD with impact protection, and overall a very solid build. Looks great. A beautiful notebook that is far more portable than the i6000 and the D810 but very full in quality. A brilliant full-featured travelling notebook.
