    Latitude D610 Screen Resolution Problem..

    Hi all,

    First time poster here...

    I've got a Dell Latitude D610 with a ATI Mobility Radeon X300 video card and it seems that the highest resolution that I can achieve is 1024x768. According to Dell's Web site, this laptop is capable of a max resolution of 1400x1050. Anyone know of a fix to get to a higher resolution?

    Also I noticed on the Dell site something about XGA and SXGA, what's the difference and does that have something to do with my limitation?

    I'm not a video card guy in any way but if that card supports a higher resolution and all your getting is 1024 then you might need to install or reinstall the driver for it... that will enable the higher resolution.

    Do you have the advanced ATI options when you look at your screen properties? If you do then it's probably already installed, if not that means you need to install it...

    What I'm trying to find out is if my problem is because of a limitation with my video card, or a limitation with my laptop display. If it's a video card problem, then I can just get a new video card. If it's a disaply problem, then I'm pretty much hosed.

    And yes the most recent drviers have been installed for the video card.

    Yeah if the driver is installed then it has to be that your screen is xga...

    did you buy the xga or the sxga+?
    cuz i believe they said it on the site that the sxga+ allows 1400x1050

    Yep, but it is almost certainly an xga screen, not an sxga ;) .

    How difficult is it to change the display on these machines?

    sometimes it's not a simple swap. how long have you had the machine? if you only just got it, you may be able to return it and get one with an sxga screen.
