I'm using Latitdue D610 with WinXP. When I close the lid while taking data from either the serial or parallel ports, the data seems to be sampled less frequently.

I've already set the power savings settings to 'Do nothing' for everything and to "Never" go into a hibernate/standby/shutdown etc.

I don't believe it's the application I'm running, as my colleagues are not having this problem while running it on their latitude d610.

Any ideas on why this still could be happening?

see if you have Quickset installed. If you have it installed it will sometimes override your power settings if you didn't change them right. I don't like the program and recommend just removing it.
