I was wondering what the main difference besides the latitude being more sturdy. I will be using a notebook for college. Is one better for me over the other. They seem like the same price for a the same features.

external differences are that the latitude has legacy ports and a trackpoint thingy. d810 also has a stepped up vidcard over the 6000.

whether either are for you is better answered in the 'what should i buy' faq in the hardware forum

D810's gpu is a X600, a more powerful but hotter cousin to the i6000's X300. It is quite a different style. More conservative. Probably tougher. Slightly heavier. Same screen options. The D810 line are excellent machines. Here is a good review of each machine by the same site: D810: http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.cfm?articleid=673 i6000: http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.cfm?articleid=655:)

The latitude D810 has an X600 card which isnt really that much more powerful than the 6000's x300 card which can actually be overclocked to reach the same benchmarks as the x600.

I would recommend the 9300, much better laptop and for less than the D810 you get 17 inch screen and 6800 go nvidia 256 meg card. The 9300 runs almost the same price as a 6000 similary configured.

I got my 9300 with the nvidia 6800 card , 80 gig drive, 1.86 ghz pentium m, intel 2915 abg wireless and wxga ultrasharp lcd for less than 1500 with 750 off coupon, current 40 percent off coupons give you an even better deal on it right now

The 9300 is built solid, magnesium alloy base and lcd lid like the D810 but not all mag alloy like the d810 still very solid no flexing no creaking in my machine, the 9300 also has six usb ports, firewire port which you dont get on the d810 and a DVI AND VGA output ports which neither the 6000 or d810 have.
