I recently bought a close-out D820. I didn't have an option on screen resolutions when I ordered it, so I have the WXGA (1280 x 800) LCD panel now.
Does anyone know if I can just buy a replacement LCD panel that is a higher resolution (WSXGA+ - 1680 x 1050) and make that work on my system? Or will there be a compatibility issue with the motherboard or other hardware that would prevent me from doing this?
Thanks!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If you can find a WSXGA+ screen of the same specification as those that shipped with higher resolution D820's, there's no reason it shouldn't work. In fact, you can probably even use higher res screens from D830's, though I wouldn't bet on that. From a technical standpoint, it just be pretty much like switching from an old XGA CRT to a new 30" LCD. Or something like that.

considering any decent LCD will set you back at least $200-300 you would've been better off getting D830 w/ bunch of discounts.
