I am considering buying D820 but can anyone tell me if I will be able to use it with a projector to show presentations? If so, what connection port is usually used and thanks.

Also, would there be any advantages in ordering one of the Precision models over the D820?

All Dell laptops have a RGB port for external monitors/projectors. If your projector has a RGB input, you are golden. If the 820 has a DVI port and your projector also have a DVI port, you can use that as well.

The D820 does not have a DVI port. If you purchase the port replicator for the D820, that does have a DVI. The D820 has a VGA connector which is what we use for the projectors here.

Thanks for that. Will have to decide maybe between the D820 and Thinkpad t60p, at least that is what I am thinking right now.

it's virtually impossible to buy a notebook that can't be hooked up to a projector. don't sweat that functionality. look for other things that make or break the deal.
