I am thinking about buying the Latitude d830 but dell's memory upgrades are so much more expensive than they should be. I was wondering what the specs on the Latitude's are, actually I think i have everything but the pin. i know that the memory the offer with it are DDR2-667 SDRAM and that it does have 2 DIMM slots. I believe all i need is the pin before being able to order the right memory, any help would be wonderful.

They are just regular 200 pin so-dimms. And it is common among most OEM's for it to be cheaper to buy RAM cheaper after market.

Newegg.com usually has some very good deals on notebook ram. I just purchased a 2GB Patriot stick for $109 after the $20 rebate for my T60. And as others have said pretty much all notebook memory C2D and S.R. laptops use the PC-5300 memory modules.

I would never buy upgraded memory from the manufacture. Why pay $200-300 for something which is value ram you can find from another source for a 1/3 the price.

    Fry's or outpost.com has 2Gb patriot stick for 89. free shipping. I purchased 4GB (2x2) for under 200.

I'll also probably go with a corsair or kingston, i've heard that patriot and others just aren't nearly as good.
