I just purchased a Latitude X1 off the Dell Outlet, should be here in a couple days. The model I found was a steal at $1300 for a practically maxed out system. 60GB HD, 1.28GB RAM. The only problem is that the system stats says the Bluetooth is disabled. It's not something I'm too worried about, but I was wondering if this can be easily enabled in the BIOS or in a control panel setting or something.

I'm hoping that its not actually disabled in the case with a jumper or worse yet, that the chip is actually removed from the computer. I have a lot of experiance taking apart desktops but shy away from getting into the case of notebooks unless I know what I'm doing.

The difference in price when you configure a new system is $0, so I'm confident it's simply a BIOS setting of some kind, but some help from a current owner in this subject would be appreciated.

Comes down to how they do the chip, I'm pretty sure it's soldered to the motherboard. I don't know if ther're omitting it or turning it off with a software or hardware control though.

I'm hoping its simply a BIOS control. Since the price difference between having it enabled or disabled is $0 I'm thinking its not an extra chip, simply a setting.

you don't buy this laptop to run photoshop or dreamweaver, it's a 12 inch screen to begin with never mind the speed.

My Dell Inspiron 9300 has a "Bluetooth Local COM" applet in the Control Panel which statrs a system tray applet from which you can start Bluetooth.
