    Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Dell latitude X1 and want to know if it is possible to use the X1 with a desktop 15" LCD monitor, a usb mouse, and a usb keyboard without openning the lid. (or put in another word, will the laptop go to sleep when I close the lid while using the ext LCD, mouse and keyboard?)

Previously I used an apple powerbook this way.
    Many thanks,
    ejoy

You can set it to do nothing when you close the lid, that's an option on all PCs.
