Yeah, I was really hoping I'd finally see a nice cheap tablet on the market... turns out it's quite the opposite. Disappointing to say the least.

I've been waiting on dell to release this tablet... some of the things I noticed when I spec'ed it out:

    1) Incredible price

    2) 1 gb "integrated" memory

    3) Hard drive specs rather low

    4) Processor specs rather low

    5) Incredible price

Dell missed a good opportunity with this product.

I really don’t see how DELL is going to compete with Thinkpad X series tablet which starts around $1500 for a better spec (LV 1.6GHz processor and 80GB HDD) or with other reputed Tablets like Fujitsu Lifebook tablet PC series (again less than $2000 for a better spec)... unless they put out a 50% off coupon code or something

Pricing is way off  .

Ha! what a joke. Its negligibly smaller/lighter then a x61 but nearly 2x as much and severely weaker.
Who would buy this? Esp. when its only major selling point(multi-touch) wont work in the near future.

Honestly, when you hear dell's taking a kick at the portable tablet, the first thing that you think of is 'affordable'. Instead, they cripple the thing with a last gen, single core ULV processor, 1.8" drive, 1 dimm for memory, and price it 80% more then the tried and true alternative that's ALSO got better reliability marks.

Its like buying a Ford Focus because of the microsoft sync technology for 30k, when you can get a better, faster, nicer Toyota for less, but without the sync system.

I don't know either... maybe we are missing something. Obviously they have the data to show that people are willing to pay for this device. Maybe the people on this forum (me included) are not part of the "target market."

I don't understand it.... all the while HP is having Dell for dinner... maybe they need some hi-end products to sell and believe this is it.

Anyone know the battery life on this thing?

Just FYI, but it is standard practice to integrate 1GB or 512MB and only leave 1 DIMM open. My D430 is definitely like that...

Its way overpriced. Dell is suppose to be about value.

Is it going to have that muddy screen because its a touchscreen? That is a turn off for me.

I got my D430 and I love it.
